So I finally started writing my Watchmen story which involves my Watchmen OC, Anastasia/Pareidolia. It's going great so far, a lot better than I planned actually! I'm currently writing chapter three and I honestly didn't think I would even get through chapter two because every fanfiction I have written in the past, I lost interest with writing it by the beginning or middle of chapter two. So I'm happy I'm getting this done, and I'm not even pushing myself to, I'm constantly wanting to write because I LOVE getting lost in the story. It's such a nice feeling to not have a writers block anymore. Considering I've had one for the past 3 years >[ But yea, I've been uploading a new chapter every week and I hope to keep it that way.

So what exactly is the story about and who is my OC? Well the story takes place in the Watchmen world and contains all the original characters and also my OC, Anastasia. It follows the original storyline but is its own story in itself. The story is through Anastasia's point of view and never switches to a different character's.

Anastasia is young girl in her early twenties trying to survive on the streets of New York City. Her parent's abandoned her after she was born and was raised in an orphanage. She never had an easy time fitting in with the other children so she rarely had friends. This led to her becoming anti-social and thus, never learned proper people skills. These factors cripple her to this day as she can't hold a job, doesn't have friends and lives in a rundown apartment. Ever since she left the orphanage she has been watching "them". Following them. Especially one in particular. They are her heroes. The only people she can trust and care about. They make her feel not so lonely in this dreary, lonesome world.

Why is the story called "Pareidolia" and what does it mean? You know how each person in Watchmen has a superhero name that isn't their actual name? Well Pareidolia is Anastasia's. And its meaning is similar to Rorschach's. It is a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant. Common examples include seeing images of animals or faces in clouds, the man in the moon, and hearing hidden messages on records played in reverse. I figured it was fitting considering she follows Rorschach's footsteps and sees the world close to how he does.

Some of you are probably thinking this is just another poorly written, batshit insane fangirl story but it definitely isn't. Well, I'm not amazing at writing but this sure as hell isn't an insane fangirl story. I've been planning this story for months and I have pages and pages of notes on the story AND Anastasia. So I didn't just throw together a Mary Sue OC and a short, uninteresting story to go with it. I keep all the characters in character most of the time and the storyline stays the same besides adding in Anastasia. Daniel is still chubby, has trouble getting it up and is in love with Laurie. Laurie still leaves Jon, has a revelation on crime fighting and falls for Daniel. Jon still has his accident, goes to Mars and is naked. Eddy still gets his face cut, freaks the hell out of Moloch and dies. Adrian still is obsessed with Egypt, kills millions of people, and catches a bullet. And Rorschach is still a masked vigilante, hates humans and dies by Jon's hands. Yes, Anastasia has a thing for Rorschach BUT he doesn't completely return the feeling. So no, there are no excessive sexual actions that happen between them.

So anyway, if you are a fan of the graphic novel or film and love drama, suspense and a hint of romance then you should definitely give it a read! I'm not promising you will love it but if you are already a fan of Watchmen, it wont hurt! You can read chapter one here [link]

Remember the journal I posted about a week ago asking for an artist to draw Anastasia for me? Well my good cosplay friend took up the challenge and has given me some AMAZING work! She has drawn and colored Anastasia's everyday outfit character sheet and I couldn't be more amazed at how accurate she made her! Sabby is definitely one talented girl. I couldn't be happier with the results. I can't wait until she finishes Anastasia's crime fighting outfit character sheet! Definitely looking forward to that one!
